God of War Ragnarök will, of course, be playable on PlayStation 5, and is the first game in the series designed specifically for the new console. Those hoping to see the evolution of the series for themselves - or just replay them all on PS5 in preparation for Ragnarök - are in luck, because every single game in the series is playable on Sony's latest console. It wasn't until the PS4 soft reboot - also simply titled God of War - that the series would undergo any significant gameplay evolution. 2018's God of War adopted an over-the-shoulder, third-person perspective, brought Kratos into Norse mythology, and was welcomed with widespread acclaim from both critics and longtime fans. The original game had two direct sequels in God of War 2 and 3, a major prequel in Ascension, and two PSP titles, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, which fit into the God of War timeline before and after the original game respectively. Throughout the life cycles of the PlayStation 2, 3, and Portable, God of War remained a fixed-camera hack-and-slash game with interspersed puzzle-solving and platforming. Kratos' anger and violent revenge for Ares' betrayal are the narrative impetuses that began the series, which now has a total of seven games, soon to be eight. ![]() Tragedy befalls Kratos when he is tricked by Ares into killing his own wife and daughter, a ruse Ares hoped would mold Kratos into an even greater killer by detaching him from his emotional anchors. Raise it up enough to make it to the hole in the wall with the chests and run out of the building. Go stand on one, and the room spins and raises. It is circular with two green pads on the ground. Going to the right will get you a red orb chest and if you jump up to the second floor of the wooden structure you find a Phoenix Feather. Grapple the giant chain and pull it down to use it as a step ladder. Advancing forward, kill the two centaurs and the spear woman. Now, climb the ladder back up and advance down the walkway you landed on from the zipline. If you go down the ladder to the left, you will get a red orb chest and a Gorgon's Eye (assuming you haven't collected all of the ones needed by this point). Fight your way through the bugs, at the end of the corridor to the left is a red box, take it, after the cutscene go to your right for another red box and then jump down the zipline to make it to another island. Jump between the gears now until you make it to the other side. Go over to the grapple point, and it apparently does nothing. Move the stepping stone all the way over to the left, then use it to jump up. Twist it to turn a big crank that drops a stepping stone. Run over and use it as a stepping stool to get up.Once up there, go to the right to find a red box.Then go back over to the point up here by a gear. Once inside the head, kill the monsters that spawn then go over to the chains and yank them. Use the grapple spot to pull yourself to the wooden structure, then climb up it to the zipline. After you reach the end, wait to be attacked by the sea monster. ![]() Pull the lever on the gondola and cruise across the water while fighting off harpies. ![]() Zip on down to what looks like a gondola. Keep going until you get to the green grapple point, then swing from it to the zipline. Climb up it to the green orb chest, then advance forward so you can climb the rock cliff. Run towards the wooden structure and shimmy along the ledge until you can make it on the platform.įight off the enemies here, then smash the wooden platform at the back. Now, going to the left, jump up and climb along the back wall to clear the gap. This is the last chest, and healing it should earn you the If it ain't broke.
